Services Offered

In addition to acupuncture, I offer the following services:

     Herbal & Nutrional Therapy - Herbs supplements can be used to treat imbalances within the body.  Taking herbal medicine will potentiate the effects of the acupuncture and help you get better faster.  In addtion to prescribing herbal supplements, I will talk to you about how small changes in your diet can help your disharmony.   

     Moxibustion  - This involves burning an herb called mugwort (artemisia vulgaris) and using it to increase circuation and warm the body.  Moxa can expel cold & dampness that cause aches & pains.  It also stimulates blood flow in the pelvis & uterus and can be used to treat menstrual disorders & infertility.   

     Cupping - Cupping involves massaging the body (usually the back) with small glass cups that form a suction with the skin.  The suction draws blood towards the skin surface, thus improving circulation.  It also treats the lungs and can help loosen phlegm & treat coughing & wheezing.    

(Please note that moxibustion & cupping involve using open flame, which is prohibited at Yampa Valley Medical Center.  As such, these services are not offered at that location).

What to Expect

Prepare to spend an hour with me on your first visit.  I will ask you many questions, feel your pulse and perform TCM tongue diagnosis.  All of this information will be compiled to arrive at a TCM diagnosis of your imbalance and derive a treatment plan to get you on your way to feeling better!

For follow-up visits, I will gather additional information such as progress made with your last visit and any new signs/symptoms you are experiencing.  Your diagnosis and treatment plan will then be re-evaluated.  Follow-up visits also last an hour.

Special Instructions

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be easily pulled above your elbows & knees.  Also, please make sure you have eaten a light meal or at least a snack within two hours of your treatment.
